began the publication process prior to the changes September 11th
had on the world. Whereas the story was never intended to make a
statement on terrorism in our world, some of its plot points and the
issues it brings up deal heavily with the subject. Deeply affected and concerned for the
project, I contemplated pulling it altogether in the wake of the
event. Instead, this story became my personal response and
therapy.
Reaction and Recovery is designed as a chapter that 'never was'. In subsequent (hopefully tighter) editions of the book, it may be included between chapters 4 and 5. It takes place the day after the events of Chapter 4, where a tragedy has struck on Pellicia. It is highly recommended that those who read this piece online are familiar with the book events. There are some spoilers within. Controversial as it may become, I feel compelled to post the story anyway, not as a statement on world events, but to provide the perspective that had to be left out for artistic purposes in the book. Feedback is encouraged.
