"This way!" Mane made a sharp right at a corner, then sprinted down the thin hallway. Hunter was nearest behind him, followed by Libby and Ty. Their progress had been impeded several times by the appearance of random soldiers. Most were unprepared for their presence and fell to quick bolter shots. They were racing down a long corridor of doors. Each door was marked simply with a number and a small metallic square mesh for a window. The hall seemed to wind on forever before a piercing lupine howl echoed through the hallway.

"By the claw, we're too late!" Hunter grunted, even as they homed in on the noise just yards away.

An electronic zap preceded another agonized howl of pain. Ahead of him, Mane flipped out the handle of his Battle Epee. The shimmering blade materialized with a hiss-CLICK as he strained to make himself move faster.

Another zap and Taylor's wrenching howl tugged them forward again.

"There!" Mane growled, seeing the light pouring from the open room ahead.

"Stay back," Hunter said to Ty and Libby, flicking out his own Battle Epee. Weapons out and ready, Mane and Hunter surged into the room. The chaos inside lasted only a few seconds.
